Brief Profile
Dr. Prajna graduated in medicine from Madurai Medical College, DO and DNB from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. He is the chief of the department of medical education and the chief of the Cornea department of Aravind Eye Hospitals. He is also the secretary of the Govel trust which runs the organization. After finishing his postgraduate career, he joined Aravind eye hospital in 1993 as a full time consultant. He has been conferred the fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London and is also a member of the advisory board of the International Council of Ophthalmology. His special interests include ophthalmology residency education and his research interests are mainly in the field of fungal keratitis.

- Amjad Rahi Best Paper Award at the 11th Annual Meeting of the Indian Eye Research Group (IERG) held at LVPEI, Hyderabad in January 19-20, 2002.
- Capt Subramaniam gold medal award for the best video at the 58th Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association (TNOA) at Salem on July 30th & 31st, 2010.
- Gold Medal for exemplary work in the field of ophthalmology at the Annual Conference of the Bombay Ophthalmologists’ Association (BOA) held at Mumbai in August 13th–15th, 2010.
- Gold Medal for contribution to research and residency education at the Annual Conference of the IIRSI held at Chennai in July 5-6th, 2014.
- Coauthor for the John Lee Best Poster award given by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists , London, 2015
